INDO TOURZ

INDO TOURZ is a fictional travel service dedicated to exploring tourist sites within India. The primary focus of this project is to highlight "Swadesh Darshan," which promotes the idea of experiencing the beauty and culture of India rather than traveling abroad. Why visit a foreign country when you can enjoy similar experiences right here in India?

My Role

I have independently conducted the entire UX research process. I interviewed travel agents and, with their assistance, spoke to some of their clients. Through these client interviews, I was able to identify user pain points. I completed the entire UX design process and created an attractive and user-friendly website design optimized for both computers and laptops.

Skills

I have conducted the whole UX Research Process on my own. I have conducted Interviews with the Tours and Travels Agents and with their help, I talked to some of their clients. By interviewing the Clients I have extracted User PainPoints. I have carried out the whole UX design process and created an appealing, beautiful website design for Computers and Laptops.

About

Through this project, I aimed to align my vision with the Union Government's "Dekho Apna Desh" initiative, which promotes infrastructure improvement, regional development, and the creation of tourist circuits. With the increasing issue of unemployment, tourism has the potential to be a significant solution, acting as a catalyst for economic growth.

INDO TOURZ will serve as a platform for everyone to explore various destinations in India, ensuring that their journeys are memorable and enjoyable. We will offer highly attractive and economical packages for all enthusiastic travelers.

Additionally, INDO TOURZ will welcome tourists from other countries, inviting them to discover India's rich heritage, culture, traditions, cuisine, and hospitality. We will provide special discounts and prioritize the well-being of those visiting India for medical tourism. In India, we uphold the belief of "Atithi Devo Bhava," meaning "The guest is our God."

 Diary Studies

Sometimes, users may provide responses that please the researcher without revealing the full truth. Diary studies are an effective method for addressing this issue. I closely observed the data available from travel agents and asked them to document their regular activities over one week. They were instructed to record every single activity, every transaction they conducted, and every task they completed during that time. The diary studies proved to be highly successful, yielding valuable data and helping to extract long-term goals.

User Interviews

Conducted one-on-one interviews with real clients of various travel agents. I also had telephone conversations with frequent travelers. I gathered comprehensive information about the operations performed by travel agents.

Information Architecture Validation

I reviewed the information architecture with prospective users, ensuring that I limited the features and controlled my own bias when adding them. My aim was to keep the design simple and precise.

USER CENTERED DESIGN THINKING:

1. Gathering and Analyzing User Data:

User Centered Design Process

Identifying genuine users and understanding the challenges they face is essential. Our product is designed for a variety of travelers, including business professionals, family vacationers, groups of friends on getaways, destination wedding guests, foreign students studying in India, medical tourists, trekkers, and more.

When traveling, there is a significant risk of scams and fraud in tourist destinations. It is the travel agency's responsibility to protect customers from dishonest practices, such as exorbitantly high charges for services. Users prefer to travel throughout the year, and medical tourists visiting India may not have any relatives here and could be coming for the first time. Making arrangements that will delight these travelers is Voyager's Paradise's top priority.

Providing affordable accommodation and meals that cater to their native diets is a key focus. Foreign visitors often face language barriers, so having a translator or a full-time guide is essential. Additionally, international travelers may have different dietary needs and may not adapt well to Indian cuisine, making tailored dietary arrangements crucial.

Ensuring the safety of all travelers is particularly important, especially in regions where risks are higher, such as Naxal-dominated areas. Overall, food, transportation, and accommodation are the essential requirements of our users.

2. Creating Personas

Mr. Shrimant Deshpande

Purpose of Travel: Family Vacation

Mr. Shrimant works in a private enterprise and is facing financial difficulties. He is looking for an affordable travel option that his whole family can enjoy. He wishes to go on a 7-day picnic, but all the travel plans he explored were too costly. Even after negotiating with travel agents, the picnic remained beyond his budget.

As a result, he had to cancel his picnic plan and instead decided to spend his vacation of seven days at his friend's farmhouse. Mr. Shrimant had to give up on his picnic because he couldn't find any customer-friendly packages. If a travel agency had created a special 7-day package within his budget, he and his family would have praised the agency for such a plan, but unfortunately, the reality is quite different.

Goals

  • He wishes to have a picnic of 7 days with his family.

  • He wishes to spend some quality time with his family.

Needs

  • He needs a package that is within his budget.

  • He also negotiated with the Travel Agents, but they failed to provide a good travel package because the Agency was not flexible and did not provide personalized client-based Solutions.

Pain Points

  • He had to give up his dream of a vacation with his family due to the high price of travel packages.

  • Agency travel packages may not be affordable for everyone, and during peak vacation times, prices can be inflated.

  • Often, travel agencies give the impression that their services are only for the elite members of society, excluding the middle class and the poor.

Mrs. Lucy Lawrence

Purpose Of Travel: Kidney Transplant

Mrs. Lucy resides in France and is experiencing kidney dysfunction, prompting her doctor to recommend an urgent transplant. Her relatives have found a donor located in Bangalore, India. However, Mrs. Lucy has never been to India before. Her doctor has arranged for an Indian surgeon to perform the kidney transplant.

Mrs. Lucy does not have a spouse, so her sister will be accompanying her to India. Unfortunately, her sister is also unfamiliar with various places in India and the languages spoken there. The family of Mrs. Lucy is understandably anxious about the lodging facilities and how her sister will manage the surgery process alone in India.

While a typical travel agency can provide booking facilities, they are often unable to offer the local support that is essential in this situation. Local support includes assistance with interacting with medical shops and residents. To help Mrs. Lucy navigate the many details surrounding her surgery, her sister will need to rush around to complete numerous formalities and handle other demanding tasks.

Goals

  • Mrs. Lucy has to undergo a Surgery in India.

  • She and her Sister had never ever visited India before.

Needs

  • She requires local support because she finds it difficult to interact with the local Indian population.

  • They both need assistance from someone who can communicate with local people in India, as they will likely not understand English.

Pain Points

  • Foreigners are subjected to vulnerability and sometimes cheated with the high prices for their Accommodations.

  • Foreigners often struggle with Indian food and adjusting to it.

  • Foreigners encounter Safety issues and Agencies must ensure their Safety and Security.

3. Ideation

I have utilized ideation as a measure for the Effort-Impact Graph and developed solutions while avoiding the "local maximum trap." Here are some of my iterations:

  • "If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." To avoid being limited by traditional thinking, I explored various aspects of the business from multiple perspectives.

  • I found that users tend to engage more with experiences that appeal to multiple senses. Therefore, I aimed to create a positive experience by maximizing user sensory involvement.

  • Additionally, since people tend to remember images better than words, I incorporated numerous visuals into my work.

4. Creating Scenarios and Storyboards

Everyone agreed and booked the train tickets. However, the group became scattered because the lodges and hotels were already fully booked. They couldn't find a single available hotel, which led to the group disbanding. Some members had to pay extra due to the peak season. Despite the challenges, they completed their journey and returned home.
